Transport Minister Keith Brown and Network Rail Director Scotland, Ron McAulayn unveil a £1 bn Edinburgh to Glasgow Improvement Programme which over 5 years will reduce the time of the journey between the two cities from 49 minutes to 37 minutes and increase the number of services from 6 or 7 to 13 per hour. The improvements will allow for the use of electric trains as opposed to the current diesel trains, which is better for the environment and result in improved local services.
