Hundreds of protesters who marched through central Edinburgh to the Parliament in support of equal marriage are celebrating after it was announced today (Mon  13 Oct) that the first same sex marriage ceremonies in Scotland are expected to go ahead from Hogmanay.<br />
Couples in an existing civil partnership will also be able to change their relationship to a marriage from December 16.<br />
Health secretary Alex Neil said: "It is wonderful that same sex couples can now begin to make plans to have their marriage just as any other couple can."<br />
